After graduating from King’s College London in 2008 with an LLB, Joanne completed the Diploma of Singapore Law and Postgraduate Practice Law Course in 2009 and 2010 respectively. She was then called to the Singapore Bar in 2010. Believing that one’s education does not stop after getting a degree, Joanne applied for and completed the Advance Tax Programme at the Tax Academy of Singapore in 2015.
Beginning her career in a top legal firm, Joanne has since grown to be a competent Singapore tax lawyer with experience spanning all areas of tax law. In particular, she is specially trained in tax dispute resolution, having assisted in achieving success for taxpayers in various disputes with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. Joanne’s experience in tax litigation include being part of the teams that represented taxpayers in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Since joining OSH, Joanne has assisted Sim Ho in various matters including, among others, matters concerning income tax implications for REITs, property tax disputes and transfer pricing matters. Joanne has also given advice on the application of Double Tax Treaty matters.
Apart from working independently, Joanne is very much a team player and thrives on the camaraderie within the OSH team. For her clients, Joanne provides a good listening ear and endeavours to give practical advice which lead to efficient resolution of their matters.
